Privacy Policy

The Short Version

Your data stays on your device. Apex Speak is built with a local-first philosophy. We do not collect, store, or transmit your personal data to external servers. There are no accounts, no analytics tracking, and no telemetry.

What Data Does the App Store?

When you use Apex Speak, the following types of data may be created and stored locally on your device:

• Audio Recordings — Speech recordings captured through the Coach feature
• Transcripts — Text transcriptions generated from your recorded audio
• Timer Records — Speaker names, speech titles, timing data, and zone performance from timer sessions
• Meeting Notes — Filler word counts, grammarian notes, and evaluator feedback captured during meetings
• Speech Analytics — Words per minute, filler word frequency, speaking duration, and on-time rates

All of this data is stored using Apple's SwiftData framework on your device. We do not operate any servers that receive or store your data.

Audio Recordings

When you record a speech using the Coach feature, the audio is saved as a file on your device's local storage. These files are accessible only to the Apex Speak app and are not shared with any other apps or services.

You can delete any recording at any time from within the app, and the audio file will be permanently removed from your device.

AI Analysis (Optional)

Apex Speak offers optional AI-powered speech analysis features, including:

• Speech transcription — Converting your recorded audio to text
• Filler word detection — Identifying filler words ("um", "uh", "like") in your speech
• Pacing analysis — Calculating your speaking speed and rhythm
• Coaching feedback — Generating structured improvement suggestions

When AI analysis runs on-device, your data never leaves your device. If a future version uses cloud-based AI services, the app will clearly inform you before any data is transmitted, and you will always have the option to opt out.

Your Control Over Your Data

You have full control over all data in Apex Speak:

• Delete individual recordings — Remove any speech recording and its analysis from the Coach or History tab
• Delete timer records — Remove individual timer session records
• Clear all data — Use the "Manage Data" option in the History tab to clear all coaching history, all timer records, or reset everything at once
• Uninstall the app — Removing Apex Speak from your device deletes all associated data permanently

No Data Upload

Apex Speak does not upload any data to any server. Your audio recordings, transcripts, analytics, and meeting notes remain entirely on your device. There is no cloud sync, no backup to our servers, and no data sharing with third parties.

Third-Party Services

The current version of Apex Speak does not use any third-party services, analytics, or SDKs that collect user data.

If future versions integrate optional cloud-based features (such as advanced AI models), we will update this privacy policy and clearly describe what data is involved, how it is processed, and how you can opt out.

Children's Privacy

Apex Speak does not knowingly collect data from children. The app stores data only on-device and does not transmit any information to external servers.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date.
