What are the timer presets?
Apex Speak includes built-in presets for common speech types: Table Topics (1–2 minutes), Evaluation (2–3 minutes), Prepared Speech (5–7 minutes), Ice Breaker (4–6 minutes), and Extended Speech (8–10 minutes). You can also create custom timed presets with adjustable green, yellow, and red thresholds.
How do I set the grace period?
When creating a custom timer preset, you can set a Grace Period Duration — this is the additional time allowed after the Red zone before the overtime alert triggers. The default is 15 seconds, and you can set it up to 10 minutes for longer speeches.
Why does the app need microphone permission?
The Coach feature records your speech for playback and analysis. Microphone access is only used when you explicitly start a recording. Audio is saved locally on your device and is never uploaded to any server. You can revoke microphone permission at any time in iOS Settings.
Where is my data stored?
All data — recordings, transcripts, timer records, and analytics — is stored locally on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework. Nothing is uploaded to any cloud server. See our Privacy Policy for complete details.
How do I delete my recordings and data?
You can delete individual speech recordings and timer records using the trash icon in the History tab. To clear all data at once, open the History tab, tap the menu icon (⋯) in the top-right corner, and choose "Clear Coaching History", "Clear Timer Records", or "Reset All App Data".
Does the AI coach require an internet connection?
The core speech analysis features (filler word detection, WPM calculation, timing) work entirely offline. Advanced AI coaching feedback may use on-device processing. If any future feature requires cloud processing, the app will clearly notify you before any data is transmitted.
Is Apex Speak affiliated with Toastmasters International?
No. Apex Speak is an independent app built by Apex Learn. It is designed to be useful for members of public speaking clubs, including Toastmasters-style clubs, but it is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to Toastmasters International in any way.
What devices are supported?
Apex Speak is available for iPhone running iOS 17.0 or later. iPad support is planned for a future update.
